YAWL

These are the wines I have drunk with dinner starting 10/12/97. The number of times I've drunk the wine is in parenthesis in the comment column. One bottle usually lasts four days. They are rated by storage endurance after opening and wine/food pairing flexibility. Three stars is average. Five is excellent. One is poor.

Wine list terminated as of 4/8/98. A bottle a week is too much to keep up with. Besides, the info becomes obsolete rather quickly. Already the 1996 George Deboeuf Boujolais-Village is a two star. Next year it won't be worth drinking.

1994 Marcus James Special Reserve Cabernet Savignon, Vale Aurora ** Brazilian wine. Very Merlot like. Pizza kills it.
1996 George Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages, Flower Label **** Good with pizza. Inexpensive. Only Healthy Choice BBQ kills it. I love the aroma. (2)
1996 Rosemount Estate Cabernet Sauvgnon, Estate Bottled **** A really good, inexpensive cab. Endurance is average but tastes great.
1997 Rosemount Estate Shiraz (65%), Cabernet Sauvgnon (35%) ** Average the first day but falls off drastically. Bad by the third day.
1993 Schmitt Sohne Bereich Bernkastel Spatlese (Black Label) **** A good match for the Healthy Choice meals. It's also good on it's own.
1995 Schmitt Sohne Piesporter Michelsberg Kabinett (White Label) **** Another good Healthy Choice match. More of a food wine than the Spatlese.
1997 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau **** Very tasty. Excellent aroma. (2)
Non-vintage Indigo Hills North Coast Brut Chardonnay **** Nice and tart. Doesn't have the cheap champagne taste even though it's cheap champagne. (3)
1995 Napa Ridge Central Coast Zinfandel *** Tastes five star but, unfortunately, it has no staying power. Don't store more than two days.
1995 Napa Ridge North Coast Pinot Noir **** Another Napa Ridge winner.
1995 Francois Gimie. Importer: Val d'Orbieu Wines Le Pas de Deux **** Four star when drunk from Reidel Bordeaux glass. Three star otherwise. Excellent staying power.
1995 Clemente VII. Importer: C.H.L International Chianti Classico *** Tasty with good aroma. Doesn't exceed it's fellows in this price range though.
1995 Napa Ridge Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon **** Pretty good flavor. Good nose. The tannins seem a little soft.
1995 Blossom Hill Winery Bistro ** Probably was a lot better in 1995 or 1996. A slight cheap wine taste. Better than most cheap wine.
Non-vintage Eden Roc Brut California Champagne *** It's not tart. It's not doughy. But it beats the heck out of any other $5.00 a bottle wine.
1995 Napa Ridge Coastal Vines Chardonnay **** Standard Chardonnay. Not the best choice for Healthy Choice but still good.
