These are the movies I have seen starting 8/29/97. Whichever movie I have seen last will be on the bottom of the list. The more stars, the better I liked the movie. Three stars is average. Five is excellent. One is poor.

Contact **** Much better than the book.
Lost In America *** The Organization Man leaves the Organization and can't hack it in the Cold. Some clever interplay with Easy Rider. Typical Brooks.
Easy Rider ** Maybe I missed the point. But, if there is a point, is it relevant today? Or was it ever relevant?
Working Girls **** Interesting and disturbing.
L. A. Confidential ***** Best movie I've seen in a long, long time. A tribute to film noir and a damn good story to boot. The acting, period feel, and cinematography are all superb.
The Cable Guy **** You better be up on your film and TV. Tons of references. A lot of thought went into this one.
Das Boot
The Director's Cut
***** This is one of my top 10 favorite movies. The director's cut is longer but the essence is still there.
Army of Darkness *** Good, mindless entertainment. The hand sequence is my favorite.
Videodrome *** Something for the S & M set. Very 80's.
Exit to Eden ** Something for the B & D set. Dana Delany is looking mighty fine though.
The Jerk *** Still fresh after all these years.
The Lonely Guy ** I'm not too keen on Neil Simon scripts. Martin and Groden saved this movie.
Prince of Darkness * Glacially slow. Keep this movie on hand as a tranquilizer.
Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid **** Fun movie. Especially if you like film noir.
Laura **** Some interesting twists.
Double Indemnity **** Great dialogue. A watershed for later movies.
Chinatown ***** Riveting. Doesn't go soft at the end like L. A. Confidential. Straight down the line.
Boogie Nights **** Humorious and entertaining for those who can get past the subject matter. You'll either like it or hate it.
Sword of Blood ** Falls apart at the end. Graphic for a Samauri film.
The Asphault Jungle ***** Outstanding. Another noir great.
Young Frankenstein **** Funny. A must see if only to be tuned into pop culture. I think Yankees like it better than Southerners.
Jackie Brown **** Excellent plot and characterization. It's a long movie. Probably would be just as good if edited down to two hours.
Tomorrow Never Dies **** Classic Bond with a dash of Jackie Chan.
Titanic *** Corny. Predictable. Way too long. Rent it for the computer simulation of the sinking. Use fast-forward often.
Triumph of Will *** Typical political convention booster movie. You'd have to be pretty sick to consider this threatening.
The Seventh Seal ***** Brilliant exposition of the Existentialist's predicament.
Flesh Gordon *** Campily Camp but enjoyable.
Indecent Exposure **** Surprisingly good tale of how Howard Stern got into radio.
Crumb ***** Outstanding documentary on Harry Crumb, creator of Zap comics. Makes you feel really, really normal.
The Truman Show **** Multilayered and very interesting. Cary's best so far.
The X Files Movie **** Decent two hour episode. Doesn't go overboard with big screen effects.
